I love board and card games, but not the standard deck of card games - I like SET, Apples to Apples, Fluxx, Chrononauts, Aquarius, and recently tried one called Man Bites Dog. Board games - my favorites are the Mayfair games Settlers of Catan and the expansion set Cities and Knights of Catan, and Iron Dragon (a railbuilding game), also Encore, Balderdash, Taboo, and Pictionary. I can get into Pente and Othello on occasion. I used to play Risk and Trivial Pursuit in college. Luckily there are several different gaming nights close to where I live, so I get to socialize with fans and play games often. I hope that you find some people to play games with in your area. And it does get easier when the kid gets older. We've been taking Matthew to gaming since he was 2. The host's daughter is 8 years older than him but she's always enjoyed playing with him, or having him watch her play her video games. She's now 17 and she still enjoys playing with him. And now there are more kids his age showing up at gaming, which is a very happy thing.
