Interview questions from [livejournal.com profile] kitanzi.....

1. What in the name of sanity is a Molar Marauder?

One of the local public radio stations used to air a serial called "The Tooth Fairy". It featured the adventures of one Newton Snookers -- dental assistant by day, tooth fairy by night. "Molar Marauder" was one of the nicknames his partner-in-crime, Dr. Nelson C. Armadingo, gave him. Sadly, they stopped carrying the series when the station went to an all-news-and-talk format.

2. And while I'm at it, what's the story behind Bobo the Lobster God? There must be one...

[livejournal.com profile] amazon_42 tells the story better than I do. When she was in school at Kent State, she wrote a letter to the editor of the school paper, dealing with religious diversity, and casually mentioned a "Bobo the lobster god" at the end of the letter. It was later developed into a website (now gone). One of the pictures showed a lobster on a cross, about to be lowered into a pot of boiling water. There was also a quote, Crustaceans 13:6, which said something about how Bobo smote them by casting into pots of boiling water.

3. How did you get involved in your men's group, and what do you feel it helps you most with?

I attended a seminar at a Mensa regional gathering in 1994 on mens' work. I was interested enough to attend a meeting of the Dayton Mens' Council (now defunct), and kept attending until the group started to fold around 1997-98.

How does it help me? First of all, it gives me a peer group of men whom I can trust with some of my deepest confidences and secrets. They also provide counsel for me, and a safe place in which to work on areas in my life that need work. I remember doing a small trust fall a couple of years ago. They were there to catch me. If they need to, they call me on the carpet. Some times, it can be very hard-edged and scary, but after the night is over, I'm feeling good about myself.

4. What's the scariest thing you've ever done?

The New Warrior Training Adventure, in October 1997. I'm glad I went.

5. What do you like best about yourself?

My intelligence, my crazy sense of humor, and my capacity to love and be loved.
