TW-3 for May 4-6, 2007.....

And now, another installment of That Was The Weekend That Was, for May 4-6, 2007.

Fri 5/4: Another "slacker Friday" at work, with not much to do. So I ran a virus scan, a scandisk, and a defrag on my system. Had dinner at Max & Erma's with some folks from the USS Bismarck. Then went to see Spider-Man 3 with them. Mini-spoiler: I really liked the psychological aspect of the black suit -- its origins and what it does to Peter. When he was wearing it, he seemed to be manic, or his shadow self was taking charge. (If any of you wonder what being bipolar is like, at least for me, it's kind of like that.) Then I went to Friendly's for a sundae. When I came home, I was still awake, so I pulled out the hard drive of "tardis mark I" (an NCR 3180 laptop), put it in an external enclosure, and performed a backup, along with copying the OS cabinet files into a directory. (This laptop is so old it doesn't have an on-board CD-ROM drive.)

Sat 5/5: Reinstalled the hard drive into the laptop. Then spent an hour trying to configure a LAN card, so it could talk to other machines on my home network. Or, to be more specific, another machine -- "tardis mark II" (a Dell Latitude XPi CD laptop) -- via a crossover cable. Moved the files I needed to move off of the Mark I onto the Mark II so I can officially retire the Mark I. Once I find the mark I's docking station, I may have to reinstall some drivers in order to get it to work properly when docked. Then I can work on finding it a new home. I know not many people are going to want such an ancient machine.

Spent the afternoon with M. We went to one of the local parks where we spent a good hour and a half at the park's playground. Then we went to another park to watch a couple of innings of a girls' softball game. She wasn't paying attention to the game, but she didn't want to leave. I took her home anyway. I would have had dinner with her and R, but M wanted mac and cheese, and didn't want to leave home because her shows were on. She loves to watch the Scholastic videos we get from the local library. I've also noticed my lower-than-usual energy level. Some days I feel that I can't keep up with her.

Had a nice yummy dinner with [livejournal.com profile] athenawindsong at BD's Mongolian Grill, where I had two bowls of steak, shrimp, and squid stir-fry. Then we walked around the shopping area, stopped in at Books & Co. to browse, and had shots of tequila at Bar Louie.

Sun 5/6: Found out that I couldn't open my garage door with the remote. I've been having problems with it for months, but haven't had the cash to replace the automatic opener. The last time the garage door guy was here, he knocked out the emergency lock (which I didn't have the key for), fished out the lock mechanism (which is on a wire), pulled on the wire, and opened the door. Now it's dangling inside the garage. I tried to fish out the lock mechanism myself, but have been unsuccessful. So I wan't able to get at the picnic things I wanted to bring to this afternoon's public Beltane celebration.

Went to the celebration anyway, bringing ice, iced tea, and bottled water. [livejournal.com profile] athenawindsong and [livejournal.com profile] stormraven37 and [livejournal.com profile] ciananguissette were there, along with many of the open ritual regulars (many of which are NOLJ). Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mrs_keradon and her group for organizing and performing a good ritual. I got home just in time to see the Sabres beat the Rangers and win the series, 4-2. (Let's Go Buffalo!) I also started work on landscaping the front yard, by removing some weeds and pruning the rose bush of dead branches. (Ouch!)

Tonight I'm doing laundry and working on both an agenda and mission statement for the Dayton Pagan Alliance's monthly meeting this Wednesday. I'm not sure what I'll have for dinner yet. Maybe some hot dogs.
