Trying to make every day Earth Day......

What am I currently doing for the environment?
(1) Recycling as much as I can. The trash crew picks up glass, aluminum, steel, and #1 and #2 plastics. I hate paying the extra $10/quarter, but I think it's wroth it in the long run. I routinely take paper, paperboard, and cardboard to the county dump for recycling.
(2) Freecycling. This project started by keeping stuff out of landfills by finding new homes for unwanted items.
(3) Reusing. I reuse plastic grocery sacks for trash.
(4) Reducing the amount of trash I generate.
(5) Printing double-sided whenever I can.

What coild I be doing better?
(1) Driving less to work, either by carpooling or telecommuting.
(2) Bicycling. I don't have a bicycle, though.
(3) Not buying bottled water. Yes, it's terribly convenient, and M likes her bottles of water, but it's probably better to reuse a bottle. (With that in mind, I'm sad to say that Nalgene will no longer be making and selling their resin plastic water bottles.)
(4) Reduce consumption.
(5) Remembering to use the reusable bags when I go shopping.

I use a water filter at my sink and fill empty and rinsed soda bottles. Small filter replaced every couple of months vs lots of empty water bottles.

I also plan to stock up on reusable canvas bags that will be kept in my son's car for all shopping needs.

Other than helping plant trees and getting an alternative fuel car I don't see what more you could do.
