I've thought about going all-paperless, but as someone much wiser that I once said, "We'll have a paperless office soon after we have a paperless toilet."

Part of the reason I keep as many financial records as I do is that I want to be forearmed, in case the IRS comes to audit me. Granted, they'd be more interested in my income than my expenses.

I also have a collection of paper files going back to 1979. Some of the items might be worth a little money to someone. And some of it has sentimental value to me -- places I've been, trips I've taken, events I've participated in. If I forget these things, it's backed up on paper somewhere.
