Scratch & dent.....
Got a call from the Kurzweil seller this morning. (It's one of the Guitar Centers in Manhattan.) Turns out one of their newer associates fumble-fingered the instrument and a small (1 1/2" x 1/2") piece of the plastic casing is broken off and gone. They offered a $200 cut on the price and am now giving me 96 hours (4 days) to check everything over. Or I can withdraw from the deal.
I still want it.
I'm not sure how to cover the cosmetic damage; I'm thinking cardboard and electrical tape.
I just hope there are some high-level diagnostics I can run to ensure that the damage is cosmetic only and that the electronics are OK.

Wish I could help you on the diagnostics stuff, but, I dunno anything about that except "gee, it'd be fun to have a keyboard".

Once I receive the instrument, I plan to do some inspection "under the hood" and look at the electronics, and the case from the inside. I might be able to do some patching with a resin panel and a soldering iron. The "high-level" diagnostics I mentioned referred to some deep heavy-duty checking. Maybe I should have called them "low-level" diagnostics.
And then it's time to look for a real flight case for it, along with some hardware/software/firmware upgrades. The computer/electronics are 8 years old, so there's a huge potential for upgrading. With my computer smarts, I might be able to do it myself. And I really don't need their current-model and top-of-the-line K2661.
