Lawn Guy Land....

This is the time of year when the suburban homeowners start trying to outdo each other with the greenest lawn. While it's nice to have a backyard filled with lush, green grass, I don't think it's worth the time and expense that some people put into it.

My front yard is a 10' x 20' strip of grass. And the landscape contractor takes care of it. I don't have a backyard to speak of. My patio is a 12' x 12' slab of concrete, fenced in on one side.

Someone tell me why some people get so obsessed about their lawns. I'm not getting it.

Shout-outs: Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] tigertoy!

Tom's yard ambition is to landscape the front yard (field) to the point that it is more or less self maintaining. Preferably before the last kid leaves for college in 6 years. ;->

Dude beats me. Watered, resonably cut, with flowers in the flower beds are all I ever wanted or needed for a lawn. Not that I've curently have even as much of a yard as you've got.

Have you heard Misty Lackey's Oklahoma Weed Whacker Massacree? It's pretty much the ultimate tale of the cult of Lawn Worship.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Sorry you couldn't make it to my birthday partyFKO.
