Death at the Dayton Air Show.....
I found out this morning that a stunt pilot was killed in a crash at the Dayton Air Show on Saturday. In the 30+ years that the air show has been held, this is the first fatality. Here's the news coverage from WHIO-TV, which has broadcast the air show for a number of years.
I also found out today that three engineers working on the motor for SpaceShipTwo were killed on Thursday when a nitrous oxide tank exploded. Here's the news article I found.
Air and space travel still have their inherent risks.
I'm shocked and saddened.

And then there was the fatal tv news chopper crash on Thursday in Phoenix. I saw a tape of what happened during the collision and then another chopper pilot's description of the wreckage. He had tears in his voice and said that he'd have to sign out for the rest of the day. This was the first news chopper crash like this--ever. They were covering a police pursuit.
