A question....

Am I the only one around here who saves old email and correspondence with people?

Why do I do it? Because I like the ability to be able to refer back to it if necessary.

How long should email be kept around? Six months? A year? Forever?

I keep data permanently. My e-mail archives go back 10 years.

It's often valuable to be able to refer back to what a customer or musician may have said years ago.

Google Desktop is such an interesting creature... useful for historians centuries in the future and for the FBI today.

Having said that, I'll admit to using Google Desktop and keeping a LOT of e-mail. Not everything.

I have my email saved back for as long as I've been using email. Everytime I change computers, we back up all of my email onto an email file and then I go forward. I'm glad I have it just to refer to from time to time...and you never know when you're going to want to write to someone from the deep dark past.
