The pros and cons of upgrading (cont'd).....

So I downloaded and reinstalled Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 in the same location it had been. And it appears on first glimpse that all my email, settings, and filters are gone. I did a little bit of searching, and was able to find all my messages from fuse.net from the time I started the account last year up to last week, when I last downloaded my email. (Whew!) My Gmail account was set up as an IMAP account, so my email should still be there on the server; all I had on my PC was a copy of the headers.

So now I wait for the downloads once more.

If the data still exists in the profile folder, you should be able to copy it into the new one generated by Thunderbird. (It just may be a number of folders down from the C: drive (if windows based). Check the path settings and then look up a couple of levels. I have done the move a couple of times over the years when I have upgraded the computer.)

Hopefully you get lucky on the email.

That is good news at least. No clue on the Gmail one since I don't download my gmail account. (Nor do I check it regularly.)
