A day of mental flossing....

Slept in this morning. My mind was filled with dreams, visions, and hallucinations. It was like a core dump. Lots of images in rapid succession. One that stuck out was an auto racer named Sakaki, who got himself disqualified from a race for some reason I can't remember.

Maybe my mind's clearing out junk and detritus to make room for new stuff to be loaded.

On the job front, I heard back from my two interviews last week. Both companies have decided to pass on me. So I have two more strikeouts to my credit. I'm left wondering, "What makes me so unattractive to potential clients?"

If you're getting interviews, but those interviews aren't turning into job offers, maybe you should spend some time with an interview coach and get some constructive criticism?

I tried that years ago (2004), and paid dearly for it. Can't afford to do that now. But then, the company I dealt with is no longer in business.

I talked to one guy years ago at a job fair, and after 30 seconds, told me that I gave him 5 reasons to not hire me.

In thirty seconds of talking to *anybody* you can probably come up with 5 reasons not to hire them, and 5 reasons why you want to hire them starting yesterday.

Is it possible to ask the hiring companies for feedback on why they didn't want to hire you? Many companies won't answer that question, but it might be worth a try.

I'm getting feedback, but it's very terse in order to avoid potential litigation. The feedback I received from one of the interviews was something like "Doesn't have enough experience in what we're looking for". But I think it goes deeper, and no one has the cojones to tell me.
