Got a call from the Kurzweil seller this morning. (It's one of the Guitar Centers in Manhattan.) Turns out one of their newer associates fumble-fingered the instrument and a small (1 1/2" x 1/2") piece of the plastic casing is broken off and gone. They offered a $200 cut on the price and am now giving me 96 hours (4 days) to check everything over. Or I can withdraw from the deal.

I still want it.

I'm not sure how to cover the cosmetic damage; I'm thinking cardboard and electrical tape.

I just hope there are some high-level diagnostics I can run to ensure that the damage is cosmetic only and that the electronics are OK.

Wow, that's like a car dealer offering $900 to get out of having to replace a hail-damaged hood.

Wish I could help you on the diagnostics stuff, but, I dunno anything about that except "gee, it'd be fun to have a keyboard".
