A trip to the Clifton Mill.......
Dec. 25th, 2002 10:19 pmThis past weekend, we made the annual pilgrimage to the Clifton Mill in Clifton, Ohio. Clifton is between Jamestown and Springfield on route 72. The main tourist attraction in town is the Clifton Mill, which is one of the nation's oldest water-powered grist mills that is still in operation. There is a restaurant on the premises, which serves breakfasts and lunches, and a gift shop, where visitors can buy flour and pancake mixes made from the stone-ground wheat.
In the fall of every year, they string millions of tiny lights on the mill and the grounds, creating a spectacular lighting display. The lights are on from Thanksgiving to New Years' Day. Here are some pictures I took (resized and gamma-corrected) while i was there.

This is the first year we took Maria to see the lights. She slept most of the time, but when she was awake, she was very interested in the lights.
Also, we (finally) put up the Christmas tree on Sunday night. Since we have a small (4-foot) artificial tree, we didn't put a lot of decorations on it. I think we have more decorations than we have places on the tree. As always, the cats were more than willing to help. Oreo has a tradition of nibbling on the fake pine needles.....and yakking them up elsewhere in the house. It's not Christmas until he does that!
Coming up next......What I like about Christmas.
