Unemployment Line, Day 451: Back to work!
May. 2nd, 2005 12:50 pmAs some of you may already know, I am going back to work full-time tomorrow (Tuesday). While it is still a "temp" job, it's more long-term than the past several jobs I have. And a job is better than no job, so I'm going for it.
I won't say too much about the client, except that it's a regional bank. I will be doing a series of Microsoft Access development projects. I will be reporting directly to the VP of Risk and the people directly underneath him, but will be interfacing with the IT department occasionally.
If I'm lucky, this may turn out to be a permanent gig. But let's cross that bridge when we get to it. And if not, I'm hoping the market's picked up enough so that I can get another assignment quickly.
In the meantime, I'm dusting off my suits and seeing if they still fit me. (Ha!) And if not, it's off to the Mens' Wearhouse to get a new one....or two. And I'm going to get my wingtops polished.
I am gonna miss sleeping in in the morning. And I'm mad at myself because all the grandiose plans I had, and the things I said I'd do if I had a year off, didn't happen. So I still have the cruft and clutter. I'll just have to devote one or two nights a week to tackle it.
I shall now pop open the bottle of Remy Martin VSOP Cognac that I've been saving for this occasion. That's the *good* stuff.
