I know I'm in the minority here, since most filkers are guitarists and often play solo.
I'm a woodwind and keyboard player, and play more often in ensembles than solo. (As the button on my bass clarinet strap says, "Plays Well With Others".) I rarely get to jam at filk cons anymore because R (and M) are ready to go home around Sunday at around 2 pm. (It's M's naptime.)
I've been kicking around the idea of doing a session at an upcoming filk con (most likely OVFF) where I'd give a workshop or lead a roundtable/birds-of-a-feather discussion about electronic music in filk, demo my Minimoog, or cover the basics of composing with computer-based music tools (e.g. Cakewalk).
I know that
filkertom and
peteralway use computers to compose all or part of their music.
Before I go ahead and indicate my intention to the OVFF committee member in charge of programming.....Who'd be interested in attending such a session?
And I'll also ask: Who's ever heard me play and/or sing?
