Sales awards for filk albums?

filk]
Here's a passing thought: The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) has their "gold" and "platinum" awards for record sales. Could we do the same for recorded filk, in whatever format/media it's in (cassette/CD/MP3 download)? If so, how many units would comprise a gold record? How many units would be needed for platinum? Would the logistics of tabulation for past-sold units (e.g. Wail Songs, Firebird Arts) be impossible? And would doing this create some type of artificial caste system within the filk community?
Discuss.
