At the Tattoo...
Jul. 3rd, 2007 10:49 pmLast Friday, I went to the US Air Force Tattoo at Wright-Patterson AFB. No, I didn't get any markings on my skin. :) It was a one-night festival.
This year, they celebrated the 60th anniversary of the US Air Force. There was carnival food, activities for the kids, and vendor booths (which I stayed away from). A few of my friends from the USS Bismarck showed up. Tops in Blue, the Air Force singing/dancing troupe, performed for us. The Air Force Band of Flight was there, and they played as various aircraft did fly-bys, from oldest to newest. I remember seeing a replica of the Wright Flyer, a B-25 (I think), a P-51 Mustang, a B-52, a couple of A-10s, a C-5, a C-17, an F-4, an F-16, and closing the show was an F-22 Raptor. There were probably more; I wasn't keeping very good track and there wasn't a checklist in the program book.
There's nothing like having a fighter jet fly by you with afterburners on, and shooting straight up afterward towards the sky. Wow.
After all the fly-bys were done, and the sun set, there was fireworks. I left during the fireworks because I was low on gas and didn't want to get stuck in the crowd.
Shout-outs: Happy very belated birthday to
