"Coder's Lament"
Here I am, starting at the screen
Trying to figure out J2EE
The complexity makes me want to scream
Because it's alien to me.
With Struts, Spring and Hibernate
The code is difficult to swallow
Good code I'm supposed to generate
I want to put it off until tomorrow.
Even though I use Eclipse
The nicest development IDE there is
I cannot help but purse my lips
And think about leaving the computer biz.
I pine for project management
Or a technical leadership role
But I don't know enough to make a dent
Or even fill this skillset hole.
My teammates are happy to answer
Any question that I may ask
Although I fear that some may wonder
That I may not be doing my task.
And so I slave over a hot PC
Churning out code that just might work
If there are errors, I cannot see
For the debugger is cryptic and I have to lurk.
