Every day, around 3pm to 4pm, I get hungry. It's about 3-4 hours after lunch, and it's not quite dinner yet. But dammit, I wanna eat something.

Does this happen to other people? If so, what do you do to combat it? Or do you give in?

I bring an apple with me to work for this purpose. I usually eat it by 1:30 or 2, and by 3 or 4 I'm hungry again. But as long as there's nothing to eat at hand, I'm OK. I'm immune to the temptations of the vending machine because vending machine prices are way past my internal "fair price" threshhold. If a bag of chips cost a quarter instead of $.85 I'd probably be at risk.

Dried fruit is an idea. You don't have to worry about it going bad as long as it is in a sealable baggie.

Fresh veggies like celery or carrot sticks. They give you bulk to make you feel full without the calories.

Or a banana. Lots of good vitamins and minerals in one of those.

I would say some fresh veggies would help. If you have the $ for it, do it! Healthy and yummy.

I do best w/a small protein snack at just that time: string cheese, handful of nuts, something like that. Yogurt maybe. If I don't get something then, I'm ravenous by the end of work, and I'll eat all sorts of bad stuff when I get home, before dinner. I eat enough bad crap as it is!

handfuls of nuts work best for me, and also Spencer... good luck.

Actually research shows that a couple handfuls of nuts especially almonds are best for that mid afternoon snack attack. They are loaded in protein and help lower colesteral while giving your brain a boost to help keep it functioning at full capacity at a time of day when most people are finding it hard to concentrate on their work.

Avoid peanuts and cashews though as they are loaded in the fats that are bad for you.
