My weekday life is a well-established routine. Get up. Change M's diaper and get her dressed while R grabs a shower and dresses. Give R and M a kiss as they leave for daycare and work. Grab a shower. Get dressed. Leave for work. Work. Eat lunch. Work some more. Call R and ask what she wants for dinner. Pick up dinner (some nights). Come home. Eat dinner. Watch a little TV and play with M. Change M's diaper again and get her in her jammies. Check email and LJ. Go to bed.

Some days it feels like I'm on a treadmill. I'm running hard, but going nowhere. It sounds boring and mundane, but it's a job (a good one -- one that I like what I do, gives me a lot of freedom, and challenges me to grow), and it's peace of mind. And it gives me a good reason to look forward to the weekends in my life! That's when I usually get my errands and housework done.

Four years ago, when I was laid off for three months, I was so depressed that I hardly did anything except sleep and mope around the house. I got a few things done, but it seemed lie a drop in the bucket to what could have been done...or needed to be done.

One of these years -- later than sooner -- I'll be retired. And if I play my cards right, every day can be Saturday! I probably wouldn't mind part-time work (20 hrs/wk max), to keep the mind and body active.
