poltr1Thanks to the help of one of the men in my mens' group, the baby furniture (dresser and chest) has been placed in the upstairs bedroom. The cardboard was taken to the local dump for recycling. The crib was assembled this morning; I'll take the cardboard to the dump next week. We also started childbirth classes last week.
More stuff from the garage got moved into storage, including several suitcases which haven't been used in years. (Our current sets are made of Cordura nylon and have wheels.) I'd love to find a good home for these and other surplus things, other than the landfill. Oh yeah -- I also sorted out some paper bags and got some ready for recycling. The garage looks much nicer now, although I still can't drive a car into it.
Speaking of cars, my older car -- a '94 Saturn SL1 that my wife drives on weekdays and I drive on weekends for local trips -- passed it's biannual E-Check. Cool. The newer car gets its tailpipe sniffed next weekend.
And I went to the local public Solstice gathering. Had a good time, although I wish I would have bought plates, cups, and a knife for the watermelon. Time to build myself a "picnic kit". Had a chat with two other dads there, and saw one of them having fun with his kids. I don't remember my dad having fun with me; all I remember from my childhood was the "strict disciplinarian" dad and the "angry" dad. It's my intention to spend many joyful moments with my child.
My sister (and her yellow Laborador Retrievers) is coming in from Colorado to visit me on her way to Buffalo for her annual visit. It'll be good to see her and my "nieces and nephews" again.

I waited to the last minute to call everyone because I wanted to have group and didn't want to cancel. Tonight I was supposed to coordinate our first "fun" night, a night devoted to playing instead of doing work.
I called everyone and talked to no-one. I was upset that I didn't get a hold of anyone and pissed at myself for not taking some iniative a few days ago, when i was really sick to cancel then or just have the other guys organize it and do it without me. my judgement is that the guys were looking forward to this and didnt' meet tonight because of me and that they will pissed at me because of this.... fuck!
