Thanksgiving Holiday at Home, part 2.....
Nov. 27th, 2004 11:24 pmFri 11/26: Woke up with a bout of loneliness, one that continued from the night before. The Girl also woke up early, so we did the usual Morning Routine: watch DVDs together, have breakfast, and take a nap when R gets up.
In the afternoon, we went to the outpatient lab at Miami Valley Hospital to have The Girl's blood work done. Her allergist prescribed it as part of a comprehensive diagnosis. Last week, we went to a lab closer to home, but they didn't have enough people to hold The Girl down, and thus, didn't collect enough blood for the test. After waiting for about an hour, and having to deal with technicians who didn't quite understand what tests were prescribed, we finally got her blood drawn. There were 5 of us in the room -- The Girl, the phlebotomist, the receptionist/technician, The Wife, and me. 3 of us were holding her down as The Girl was getting poked, and shrieking through the entire ordeal. We got enough blood this time. After it was all done, we said the magic words "Ice Cream", and she calmed down quickly. We had lunch at the Wendy's inside the hospital, wher The Girl got a small Frosty.
We drove around afterward so The Girl can get her daily nap in. Made a return trip to DiSalvo's Deli, where things were a whole lot less hectic. I received an application, which will be filled out and returned later.
Dinner was spaghetti, garlic bread (okay, Papa Murphy's Cheesy Bread), salad, and a bottle of '99 Hawk Crest Merlot.
Later in the evening, I called several out-of-town friends to touch base with them, since I was stuck here in Dayton. I got a hold of Sal (Happy Birthday Sal! Enjoy your turkey and bacon sandwiches!), Jeff, Gerry, and Bill & Darleen. Bill said Darleen was out, but they'd call us back on Saturday. I called Larry but got his housemate instead; Larry's out of town and I'll call him back next week. I left voice mail messages with Buxees & Liz, Zon, and Heather.
Sat 11/27: Woke up with The Girl. Had great conversation with Buxees and Liz, who called back. Got email from Rachel, who came home from England earlier this week to visit with her family and friends here. We hope to get together with her sometime next week.
Once again, the usual weekend afternoon routine: drove around while The Girl took a nap, and did a little bit of shopping. (The cats have food again.)
Dinner was apple cider salmon (for R); leftover turkey (for me).
Spent the evening at home with The Girl and watched Sleeping Beauty about half a dozen times while R went off to bookstores. She came home with more Chelsea Quinn Yarbro books -- books she didn't know were out there! (R is a big fan of Saint-Germain.)

Date: 2004-11-28 10:21 pm (UTC)Remind me to tell you the story sometime of the yellowjacket nest, the bicycles, and the ten-year-old me who required four orderlies to receive an injection of antihistamine after being stung (mumblemany) times.
Needles? Nope. Don't like them at ALL.
