Give it up for new LJ friends [livejournal.com profile] unclechristo and [livejournal.com profile] filkerdave!

Well, I finally got around to cleaning the dining room area today, which had become somewhat of a storage area. Some of the looser stuff was put into a Stor-All (tm) box.
I love these boxes because they have removable lids, handles, they're the right size for paper files, and they're inexpensive -- about $7 for a pack of 6.

One of the things that went into the box was my magnetic sports team logo collection. 30 years ago this summer, I sent away for a set of NHL team logo magnets, which was offered by Ovaltine. In subsequent years, I added to the collection -- NFL, NBA, MLB, and standings boards. There was a company in Chicago that made these; I wonder if they're still in business. (Someone pass me a copy of the Thomas Register, please!) I'de love to get the collection updated with both the new and changed team logos for the past several years. And I kind of wonder how much the old and obsolete team magnets are worth.

I also vacuumed up lots of dirt and cat hair, and found some spots where one of the cats peed and yakked up both hairballs and food. I suspect it is our "problem child", Lady, as she has a history of doing this. Does anyone had a good way of removing pet stains, other than calling in a carpet cleaning service? My current spot-treating solution is to spray the stain with Nature's Miracle, then hit it later with some Odo-Ban. Someone else recommended making a paste of Oxi-Clean to get rid of the staining, but I'm not sure it will get rid of the odor.

I also found our winter coat collection -- the ones we wore last winter and never quite put back into the closet. They're being washed before they get hung back up. And we have some extra blankets we'd like to donate to a homeless shelter. But first, they're gonna get washed and bagged.

Of course, the room will get dirty again. That's why I feel housecleaning is a futile effort. "Why bother cleaning it? It will noly get dirty again!" Such is the way of entropy. But now I can think about eating meals in the dining room again, instead of on TV tables in the living room.
