This past weekend, my family and I went to the local annual Greek Festival, which is held at the local Greek Orthodox church every year the weekend after Labor Day. There are three festivals in town that run the same weekend -- the Greek Festival, the Italian Fall Festa (run by the local Sons of Italy lodge), and the Beavercreek Popcorn Festival. We did the Italian Festival last year, and the Popcorn Festival two years ago. This year, we went to the Greek Festival, since the last time we went was 3 years ago.

The festival is the church's fundraiser/community event. Lots of people go for the food, the dancing, the church tours (which we did on our last trip), the culture, and the fellowship. It's like a large party where people don't know each other that well, but everyone is friendly and having a good time.

Nearly everyone goes for the Greek food, since we have only a few Greek restaurants in Dayton. My wife had the pastitsio -- a lasagna-type dish without the tomato sauce. I had the moussaka -- another lasagna-type dish with ground beef and eggplant. I also had a glass of a wonderful white wine from Cyprus; I can't remember the name, but it was good. (Hail Dionysus!) I also got a cookbook so I can make the food anytime I want it, and not have to wait for next year.

ETR 407 update: I finally got through to them, after being on hold for 25 minutes. I explained my situation -- I paid them over the internet, but I transposed two digits in the account number -- and that I had already faxed my billing information to their Accounts Receivable department for review. The clerk assured me that Accounts Receivable would call me once they get to my account, and couldn't/wouldn't transfer me over to them. The good news is that I won't get charged the $30 late fee; since they don't charge late fees for accounts under $10. But it's been nearly 4 weeks since I sent them the info! Surely they must have gotten to it by now; she said there was no queue. Or did they not receive the fax? I'm sorry to say this, but instead of Customer Service, I got Customer Stonewalling. I expected better. And now I'm stuck playing the waiting game, while they continue to rack up interest on a bill I paid. Grr.....
