Guitarists like to talk about their favorite "axes". Me, I'm not a guitarist. I'm a keyboard player. And yes, I like to talk about my favorite keyboards -- organs, pianos, and synthesizers -- and musical "toys".
A few of the publicity pictures of Chris Franke -- like the one on this page -- has him posed in front of a large modular synthesizer. The knob patterns suggest it's a modular Moog system. What I want to know is....does it get any play time? Or is it strictly just for show?
At least I know the Moog Liberation in this picture was getting some use. That's Tom Schuman of Spyro Gyra -- one of my favorite jazz keyboardists.
[Added 01:55] Oh yeah. And I want one of these too -- a Laser Harp. Just like Jean-Michel Jarre's. (The one in this Windows Media file was built and played by Martin Frankcom of the UK Jarre tribute band Jarrelook.)
