Thanks for posting this. As someone who thought, briefly, that we'd have to take advantage of a food bank, I feel especially the need to do at least a little. So what I tend to do most is the "round up a dollar" - it's not a lot but it helps.
Ed's church (which is to say the Episcopal church where he is the music minister, not the UU church we'd go to if he wasn't) anyway, St. Stephen's has a thing where they always have a can or box of food on the altar during advent?? Until Christmas? I forget to be honest, but anyway they put it there to symbolize and remind of the hungry and they collect food to give to the food banks. Our local small grocery store always has a box to collect, all year round, and I've noticed it is always at least half full. It makes me glad to see it because it is all too easy to imagine being on the other end of that.
