Greeting cards have all been sent.....well, not really.....

Busy week around the house here. I've been working on my holiday cards. The first batch is ready to go out! I'm sending out a total of around 90 cards. The address list is more like a database, complete with the cards I've sent and received the past 5 years, and a scorecard as to whether or not I should send people cards this year.

If I send people a card, and they don't send me one, then I really don't have a reason to send them any more cards in the future. Usually I wait unil after I've sent them two cards in two successive years, unless there are special circumstances. My parents don't send cards to anyone unless someone sends them cards first.

I've already missed the Hanukkah season, so I think I'll skip these few cards. Besides, I know one of the recipients would chide me for sending cards well past the season.

What slowed me down a little is misplacing the stamps I bought this past weekend. I've been looking for them for two days. I finally bought some more stamps this afternoon. Now that I've done so, the other stamps should appear.....when I stop looking for them and start looking for something else, like my current journal book.

I've also been watching VH1's "I Love the 80s" series. Boy, has it brought back memories -- some good, some bad. But at least I'm getting the cards done while I'm watching.

This weekend....decorating the tree, and if I feel up to it, the lights. And taking a trip to either Clifton Mill or Woodland Lights.

I can certainly understand your position about the cards. I'm one of the feckless masses that neglects, forgets, or can't afford to send Christmas cards. The last year I remembered to, I did so because I could afford neither gifts nor travel that year. The sticker shock of cards+stamps alone meant Ramen Noodles for 2 weeks that year. It was awful. And now, my thoughts on cards are "I can't afford it." which isn't strictly true, but I keep thinking sending cards=eating Ramen Noodles again. Ack!

But then, I completely agree. If I recieve a card, I should send a card. And moreover, if I care at all, I should send a card. And as well, if I care to recieve a card, I should send a card. So, as year one of my card rehabilitation program, I am sending cards to everyone who sends me one, along with a small gift. Because I feel like such a schmoo that I'm so bad about the whole sending cards thing. And because I enjoy recieving cards, and really wish people knew how much they are appreciated. Ramen noodles for two weeks. Yuck! I could probably stand them for two days, especially if I add goodies to them, like imitation crab, pea pods, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, etc. The amount of salt in the flavor packets get to me.

Anyway.....I'd send you a card, but I don't have your snail-mail address. I could try looking you up on Switchboard or AnyWho, but there may not be a listing for you....or several listings, especially if other people have the same name as you. I might have M's address in the PalmPilot, but it didn't make it from there to the spreadsheet
