Last year, on 1/1/05, I posted my personal goals and predictions for 2005.

Here's how I did.

Personal goals for 2005

* All-around: Find a job that I like.
Well, I did, at the end of April, but it went only 2 months at a time. And in October, I started working for someone whose management style I did not like at all. After three weeks of "Madame Helga", I had enough.

* All-around: Increase my trust and deepen the friendships with a few of the people I know
I think I did well on this one. Especially with [livejournal.com profile] athenawindsong.

* Health: Get down to 200 lbs
Nope. Not even close.

* Health: Get out and walk more
Not really. I made it out to Sugarcreek Reserve only once.

* Clutter: Go through and discard financial records over 5 years old
Didn't happen. :(

* Clutter: Reduce the amount of paper clutter by 25%
Didn't happen. :(

* Clutter/Housekeeping: Keep the house clean and free of clutter (ongoing)
Didn't happen. :(

* Financial: Do something to avoid getting deeper into debt
Such as...? Getting a job. Which I did. But it didn't last.

* Financial: Make progress on paying off the current debt
Ha!

* Home: Spend less time on the computer and more time with the family
Still working on it.

I think I'll carry these over into 2006.

Predictions:
1) Pope John Paul II will pass away.
Ding! One correct!

2) Citing sagging record sales, Britney Spears will pose nude for Playboy.
Uh, no. She had a baby, which kept her in the media spotlight.

3) Not to be outdone, Christina Aguilera will pose nude for Penthouse the following month.
Nope.

4) Paris Hilton will fade from the public spotlight after yet another sex scandal.
Unfortunately, no. *sigh*

5) Jessica Simpson will become pregnant, and will be showing off her belly to anyone who cares to see.
Nope. Her and Nick are headed to Splitsville. But there are a lot of guys out there wondering if anything comes between her and her Daisy Dukes.

6) Michael Moore will win the Best Documentary Oscar for Fahrenheit 9/11, and his victory speech will be cut short by the censors and/or the network.
Bzzt. Nope.

7) The NHL team owners' lockout will continue until the summer. The 2004-05 season is history.
Ding! Another one correct!

8) Osama bin Laden will not have been caught.
Ding! Another one correct!

9) There will be another challenge to Bush's [presidency], based around the US involvement in the Iraq war, which will still be going on.
No, but there's been whispers of impeachment. And the Iraq "war" is still going on.

10) There will be another major natural disaster somewhere in the world, equalling the magnitude of the Sumatra earthquake and resulting tsunami.
There was the earthquake in Pakistan, but I don't remember where it ranked on the Richter scale. Nor do I remember what the Sumatra quake ranked on the scale. And I'd prefer to not compare death tolls; that's too morbid.

My predictions in '06 will come later, if at all.

I think you did a good job with your predictions!

My only resolution was to lose 25 pounds. I gained 18. But I learned a lot of other stuff that would have been wonderful for resolutions if I had known I would learn it ahead of time.

Have a blessed New Year. Maybe I wasn't on your list of people to become closer to this year, but I want you to know that I feel closer to you and have gone from feeling I didn't know you at all to feeling quite fond of you. {hug}
