How am I doing?
Jul. 1st, 2003 08:13 pmIt's a new month, a new quarter, and a new half-year. Time to check on my New Years' resolutions I made 6 months ago to see how I'm doing....
Of course, with New Years come resolutions. I don't make resolutions; I set goals. If I don't make the goal, I just carry it over to the following
year. Anyway, here are mine, complete with metrics and deadlines:
* Lose 20 pounds by July 1 (I should lose 60 pounds, but I can't start losing the remaining 40 until I lose the first 20, and 1 lb/week is
reasonable)
I don't know if I've made this goal. The bathroom scale is a bit wonky. It says I weigh 160 pounds. As if!
* Exercise more (30 minutes of walking a day, 3 days a week)
Nope. Didn't happen.
* Continue to reduce my intake of salt, fat, and carbs (especially sugar and starchy vegetables such as potatoes) (ongoing)
Well, yeah, I'm sort of doing this, but I occasionally slip or cheat.
* Continue to attack the "paper tiger" living in my house (ongoing)
It's progressing, but awfully slowly.
* Continue to reduce my existing credit card debt, and not build up new debt (ongoing)
Well, I shuffled it around a bit to get lower interest rates, but is it actually reduced? I don't thik so. Somtimes I feel like I'm running on a treadmill.
* Find a new job that I like and pays as well (or slightly less) than my current job by March 1
Hell Yeah! I'm working for the same folks on a different engine program, doing the same things.
* Complete the assembly and publication of the last newsletter for the now-defunct Babylon 5 SIG of Mensa by March 1
Nope. Hasn't happened yet.
* Spend more time with my wife and daughter, and less time online
Still working on it.
