Petrol pontification....
Aug. 11th, 2005 11:31 pmI'm getting motion sickness watching the gas prices go up and down.
One of the street corners I pass to/from work has gas stations on three corners - a BP, a Shell, and a Speedway. They usually stay in step with prices. On Monday afternoon, gas was $2.499/gallon. It went down to $2.459/gallon on Tuesday. And this afternoon, it's up to $2.599/gallon. What's it gonna be tomorrow?
I had a LJ post last year with suggestions on how to improve fuel economy. Things like driving with the windows up and waxing the car -- both reduce drag. And keep the tires inflated.
It really is time to break ourselves from the habit of petroleum. But many of the oil companies are apparently fighting that with everything they got, because it's a threat to their business. Or so they seem to think.
Now is a good time to put in a plug for gaspricewatch.com. A site where you can find the cheapest gas in your area. Provided that some of the volunteer price spotters live near you. (If not, sign up!)
