A few weeks ago, I picked up a GE 25833 cordless phone, along with one GE 25832 (an extra handset and charger kit), off the clearance table at OfficeMax. I like the idea of having 2-4 phones with a common base unit. In a large enough house (which I'll probably never have), it can work as an intercom system. It beats having to shout at each other.

The first phone works great. But the second phone doesn't work at all, even though it's designed to work with the base unit. I tried charging it overnight, and it acted as if the battery hadn't charged. It said "out of range" even when I charged it on the base unit. I tried swapping batteries between the two handsets, and the "bad" handset worked.

Now that I've isolated it to the battery, I've been going all over trying to find a replacement battery for this thing. No one has it. The phone number isn't even listed in the lookup charts and booklets. I looked at the owner's manual, which listed a battery number. Maybe that's what I'm supposed to be looking for.
