Spent the afternoon watching "The Mind's Eye" and "Galaxy Quest" and having lunch with [livejournal.com profile] athenawindsong.

This evening, I watched the American Idol vote-tally-and-elimination show this evening. The best part was Stevie Wonder performing his new song. The worst part (as always) was Ryan draggign out the suspense so that the show would fit into 30 minutes. Get on with it!

This week, Frank Hayes Disease proves fatal. Michelle, who flubbed the lyrics yesterday, got the least votes. Meanwhile, the Kewpie Doll (aka Kevin) avoids elimination this week.

Then I left the dial along and watched "The Loop". It's about a new college graduate who has a job as an airline executive. It's comical as he deals with his peers at home and "the suits" at work. And yeah, the boss (the CEO) is a prick. And the opening theme? "The Hockey Monkey Song", which was made famous (at least among us filkers) by Ookla the Mok. No, I didn't see their name, or Rand's or Adam's name, in the closing credits, for however many tenths-of-a-second they were on. (Note: A Google search on "Hockey monkey" turned up a page on Blatherings which mentions that the song was written by James Kochalka -- not Rand or Adam. The song was performed by a band called The Zambonis, which play lots of hockey-related songs. There's also a video that surfaces on Nickelodon from time to time.)

Kevin will probably avoid elimination for a few more weeks simply because of the publicity he's getting and his sassy attitude.

I can ALWAYS watch Galaxy Quest another time!
