I've known for some time that my social life tends to revolve around clubs and organizations. I've noticed that many people in those clubs only want to see one side of me -- the part that we both have in common. They don't want to see whatever other facets I have in my life. And I've also noticed that the friendships rarely, if ever, transcend beyond the clubs. If I drop out of a club, the members of that club won't have anything to do with me.
I've considered listing them, and the reasons I left, but I'll leave that for a later post.
The summary: If I feel that my presence in the club is merely tolerated, or if I'm not getting something out of a club, I'll drop out.
