Isn't today the day they bring out the 2006 vintage Beaujolais? I'm contemplating running out after work and getting a bottle, probably Georges LeBoeuf since I see that brand a lot.

How many folks out there have tried Beaujolais? Do you like it? Is it sweet, dry, or somewhere in between?

[Updated 14:37 EST] Once again, Wikipedia sets me straight. It's technically called Beaujolais nouveau, and the brand is Georges Duboeuf. Clearly I don't spend enough time at the local wine store, or the wine aisle at the local supermarket.

I like Beaujolais. I'm not good at describing flavors, however.

Beaujolais nouveau: I've had about six different brands across various vintages. Light in body. Fruity, not sweet as such, but "off-dry" to dry. Not tannic, but sometimes tart/acidic. Low in alcohol. It's acceptable to chill this red wine. Georges LeBoeuf is the brand that seems to be everywhere. Festive!
