1: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Career: Working on the GE90-115B engine program. That's the current world record holder for gas turbine engines, capable of producing over 120,000 pounds of thrust. (As a comparison, the Rocketdyne F-1 rocket engine -- the ones on the Saturn V -- produce 1 million pounds of thrust.)
Personal: Developing an electronic music course for my high school. I came up with a 20-week curriculum, worked on selecting textbooks, and even worked on getting grant money to purchase 2 Multimoog synthesizers.
2: What is the silliest thing you've ever done?
Doing a rendition of Larry Groce's "Junk Food Junkie" for a version of "The Gong Show" that was held at my high school in 1979.
3: What is the best thing about having a daughter?
When she says to me, "I love you Daddy" and gives me hugs and kisses.
4: How did you come to play the bass clarinet?
I started playing [Bb soprano] clarinet in 4th grade. I briefly tried bass clarinet in 5th grade, but went back to regular clarinet after a few weeks. In 7th grade, I transitioned from clarinet to alto clarinet to bass clarinet, and stuck with it throughout high school.
5: If you could master another musical instrument, what would it be?
The piano. While I've played organ, and taken organ lessons, the actions between the organ and piano are different. My challenge is trying to get the left and right hands going at the same time.
