Memories of 7-Eleven.....

There used to be a 7-Eleven convenience store near where I grew up. It was next to the local branch library. I'd go there on my bike and get Slurpees in the 32-oz collectors' cups.

I think I still have some of those cups. I wonder how much they're worth now. I remember one of them had Brainiac (one of Superman's arch-enemies).

The last time I went by there, it was either a beauty salon or a bakery outlet store. And the branch library was closed, too.

There's no 7-Eleven near me, so I can't get Slurpees anymore. But I can get Icees, Slush Puppies, or frozen Cokes. But they're not quite the same.

The real trick about 7-Eleven right now is that they're serving not Slurpees, but Slushees (and about a dozen of them are done up fully as Kwik-E-Marts; I need to get to the one here sometime soon). They have other Simpsonsania for sale as well, but the Slushee (and its concomitant brain freeze) appeal right about now :-)

Yeah, I saw that on the news. Everything Springfield except the Duff beer.

Nothing like a major convenience store chain with a self-deprecating sense of humor. :)
