The one for Lowe's just irritates me to no end. A couple is in the store, he describes a project to the store clerk, the wife gives him The Look, and he immediately changes his story. This happens three times during the commercial.

I'm thinking, "What a wuss. This guy caves in without a single word from her. (She says nothing through the commercial.) I think I know who wears the pants in that family."

Makes me want to smear Head-On all over the forehead. :-)

How about you? What commercials are out there that you absolutely detest?

I despise the series of ads for Holiday Inn Select ("I'm not a ____, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Select last night"). They cater to the "no need to work, you can do anything highly educated and trained people do" mentality of a significant segment of the population.

Fortunately, the important shows that I watch, I torrent, and the uploaders are so courteous as to extract the ads.

I don't watch a whole lot of TV, so I don't see any one commercial or set of commercials on a frequent enough basis to be annoyed by them to any great degree. What I despise is the encroachment of advertising matter into times and spaces that previously were free of such--or, even worse, in venues where I have paid an admission fee to watch the entertainment. The one that really makes me see red is screened ads before full-price, first-run movies. We have truly hit the future Philip K. Dick and Ridley Scott imagined in Blade Runner, where advertising is omnipresent and inescapable.

That Lowes commercial bothers me, too. It's demeaning to both genders. The guy is an idiot and the woman... well, if I thought that something needed to be done on the house I'd talk it over with Roper and then arrange for it if he chose not to.
I wouldn't passive/aggressive him into doing it.
That is one sick marriage. And the daughter is being taught to disrespect her father at the same time.
Am I taking it too seriously? Probably, but the behaviors are annoying.
