I have plenty of tapes that have obscure songs on them. Some of them are in the Living In Oblivion collection. One of my long-term projects is to take the cassettes I have and convert them into MP3 files.
I don't have all these songs, but thinking about them brings back some fond memories. Here are 25 songs I'd love to turn into a personal collection.
Sniff & the Tears, "Driver's Seat"
Boomtown Rats, "I Don't Like Mondays"
The Knack, "Good Girls Don't (But I Do)"
XTC, "Making Plans for Nigel"
Alice Cooper, "Clones (We Are All)"
Stanley Clarke & George Duke, "Sweet Baby"
The Tubes, "I Don't Want To Wait Anymore"
The Korgis, "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime"
Gino Vannelli, "Living Inside Myself"
Duran Duran, "Girls On Film"
Asia, "Heat of the Moment"
Chris deBurgh, "Don't Pay The Ferryman"
Eurythmics, "Love Is A Stranger"
Frankie Goes To Holywood, "Relax"
The English Beat, "Mirror In The Bathroom"
Manfred Mann, "The Runner"
Van Stephenson, "Modern Day Delilah"
Howard Jones, "What Is Love?"
Peter Gabriel, "Walk THrough The Fire"
ABC, "Be With Me"
Mr. Mister, "Broken Wings"
a-ha, "Take On Me"
Dire Straits, "Money For Nothing"
Jan Hammer, "Theme from 'Miami Vice'"
Don Henley, "Dirty Laundry"

As to the 80's, I always thought that decade was mostly a write musically. It seems that there really hasn't been a lot of good popular music since the 70's. While there's been a lot of great filk done, pop music (Rock and Roll, Country & Western, etc.) has been in the doldrums, with only a few of the old Stars such as Johnny Cash & Bob Dylan doing anything worth listening too.
