What I'll miss about Dayton...

Somewhere in my LJ, I made a post about 25 things I'd miss if I ever left Dayton. I can't seem to find it. So I'll have to start another list.

These are the times I really wish LJ had a feature which enabled people to search their own journals. (I have the spider-killer on so Google has no knowledge or record of these pages.)


Even though I'll be an hour away, and coming back frequently, there will still be things I'll miss during the week, in no particular order. (Items marked with an asterisk (*) are things I'll find in Columbus.)

3. My cats (until I move them)
4. 2News (Channel 2's news program is the best in town, in my opinion.)
5. Seeing the C-5s and F-16s in flight
6. Hot Head Burritos (a local chain)
7. Canoe trips down the Little Miami River

9. Tim Horton's*
10. Jersey Mike's Subs*
11. The friends I've made here
12. Dayton Dragons games
13. Mendelson's
14. Graeter's Ice Cream*
15. Half Price Books*

16. DiSalvo's Deli
17. The radio stations in Cincinnati that I occasionally listen to


Things I won't miss:
1. The local economy -- getting flushed down the toilet real fast
2. The commercials for Jeff Schmidt Chevrolet
3. The traffic on I-75, especially around Malfunction Junction

There are applications which allow you to retrieve the contents of your journal, and then, having done so, search them. I have one in Windows, and another that's just a perl script.

The windows one is called ljArchive. I forget the perl script's name offhand, but I could send it to you if you wanted it.

I've been using LJBook to create annual archives of my LJ, but it creates a PDF file which, IMO, is not very text-searchable.
