Time is short.......

Not much time this week for LJ-ing.
Last night, I conked out early and got some much-needed sleep. (And M slept through the whole night! yay!)
Tonight, I sorted out some bills for this year. I like to hang on to the credit card and utility statements I get. It's part of my financial diary and history. (More about this in a later LJ entry.) I found some bills for last month that I opened and forgot to pay.
Usually, I'm good about pulling out the envelope and stub, and setting it aside the same day I get the bill. Last month, I fell down on the job. 4 bills got misplaced and missed -- my electric bill (app. $2 late fee), my cable TV bill ($5 late fee), my gasoline credit card ($29 late fee -- ouch!), and my long distance telephone bill. So this month I'm paying them double. so I can get caught up and (hopefully) get back in good standing with the creditors.
I need to sit down one evening and re-plan my budget.....and not get online until it's done!
This weekend is the second New Warrior Training Adventure to be held in Ohio. (I went through my Weekend in Indiana in October 1997 -- nearly 6 years ago.) I'd be staffing it if not for family commitments -- my wife needs to have me home because we have no family in the area or babysitters to act as her backup or relief.

Date: 2003-09-18 03:42 am (UTC)First we had Emily (Ed's wonderful teenaged daugther) living with us so she babysat (for money) a lot (as well as helping out just cause a lot too which is partly why I was so happy to keep paying her). But then we were on the road and never in one spot long enough to find a sitter. So I know how hard it is but here's a suggestion for you to consider (since you are presumably stable enough to try this):
Consider finding a sitter (through recommendations etc) and hiring her to come help sometime when one of you WILL be there. This gives you a chance to really see what s/he's like and get a sense for how well s/he'll do with the little one. You can even do this a few times. If you think s/he's great and feel you can trust her you'll have built a relationship with a sitter by the time you really need one that way.
At first I just didn't want to leave my babies with a stranger then we didn't have the option to build a relationship with someone like that while we were on the road and believe me, many is the time I wished we had a sitter. You gotta take care of yourselves too!
Hugs = good luck!
