One of my all-time favorite XTC songs is "This World Over", from "The Big Express" (and the "Upsy Daisy Assortment", their greatest hits collection). Instrumentally, it's a rather minimal song -- vocals, block organ chords, piano, bass, and drums. The words are post-apocalyptic. But the drum sounds on that track are phenomenal! I don't know if it's two drummers, or one drummer with a drum machine. I'd love to get a set of electronic drums, or find an old LinnDrum somewhere (like on eBay).
Some other songs with drum tracks/sounds I absolutely love:

- Head Like A Hole by Nine Inch Nails
- The Working Hour by Tears for Fears
- Let The Good Times Roll by the Cars (old Synare drum sound)
- The Old Ways by Loreena McKennitt (processed bodhran)
- A Criminal Mind by Larry Gowan (100ms flanged delay)
- Master And Servant by Depeche Mode (electroclang at its finest)
