How I spent my snow day...

In the morning, after giving up on accessing my work email from home, I spent some time building a spreadsheet containing my monthly budget and bills. I also dosed up on vitamin C.
Then, at around 11:00, I had some "survival food" for lunch -- Spam and ramen noodles. I watched the noon news, then suited up to dig out the driveway. After about an hour and a half of shoveling, the driveway was complete. (But my car, in the street, was still snowbound.) I then went inside to change into some dry clothing. I worked up quite a sweat while shoveling snow. I worry that when I sweat when it's cold out, I'll get sick.
While I was inside, an INDOT or City of Indianapolis pickup truck came down my street to plow it. It initially did one lane's worth. Meanwhile, I started working on the quarterly PCCO newsletter. I get my calendar of events from another source, and instead of spending tedious hours reformatting it, I went with the existing format and spent about an hour rebuilding the hyperlinks in the calendar.
At around 5 pm, I broke for dinner. I opened up a can of chicken & dumplings, which weren't too bad. But again, survival chow. I watched the 6:00 news, then suited back up to go outside and dig out the car. A neighbor of mine was gracious enough to give me a push, and that's what I needed to get the car out of where it was. While it was in the street (with flashers on), I dug out its parking area, and when that was done, I moved the car back. I'd rather deal with this tonight than tomorrow morning. Total time spent: about an hour.
This evening, I started to play around with Skype. It's a program that enables its users to make voice over IP telephone calls. Gary, my project manager at work, mentioned that he used it. And I already had the client program on my U3 flash drive. So I thought I'd try it out. It turns out that I need a microphone or headset to use it effectively. THat's something else that will go on the wish list, or will buy when I make my next Micro Center or Fry's run.
If you use Skype, and would like to voice chat with me, let me know your Skype name via a reply to this post. Comments are screened (until I reply to them).
