The '03 Beaujolais is out today........

It's the third Thursday in November. The day that the year's first wine is made available for sale. I think it's a national holiday in France. :-) So, has anyone had this year's Beaujolais yet? Is it any good? Or should I get some oilive oil, lots of veggies, and make a salad with it?

Guilty Pleasures: Last night was the Victoria's Secret fashion show on CBS. They showed it at a more reasonable hour this year -- 10 PM. Scantily-clad models parading down the runway in the latest sexy skivvies. After about 5 minutes, they all started to look the same to me. Yawn. I think I was more interested in the musical performances by Sting and Mary J. Blige. Again I'll ask: Where were the plus-sized models? Oh yeah -- that's Victoria's Dirty Little Secret -- they don't have ANYTHING for plus-sized women in their product line!

Wacko Jacko is is the news again: 'Nuff said!

Today on NPR's Fresh Air: An interview with Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog. I hadn't laughed this much during a Fresh Air interview since the infamous interview with Gene Simmons of Kiss (who, by the way, got a mention from Triumph today).

The Massachusetts ruling: I can devote a whole LJ article to this. I'll just say this for now: Is marriage a social, legal, or religious institution? What defines a family? And wouldn't it be discrimination to deny two gay or lesbian people who are committed to each other from marrying?

No Beaujolais yet, but I'm planning to get a couple of bottles during the weekend and will probably have some during Thanksgiving. We should compare notes.

FWIW - when I told a Victoria's Secret manager once that if they carried plus sizes I'd spend a lot of money there and knew plenty of other women who would also - they told me they don't carry plus sizes because they are owned by the same company that owns Lane Bryant. Now, to this I replied "honey, let me assure you that Lane Bryant is NOT Victoria's Secret!" However, I must admit that through the years Lane Bryant does carry more plus size lingerie than they used to. Not nearly enough but more. With minor research I can come up with some awesome plus sized lingerie companies for you though. Just email me. (I haven't had the money to shop for a few years so don't have them handy). :-)

I actually work for Victoria Secrect Direct (the catalogue). You are kinda right, they use to own Lane Bryant, but they sold them about six months ago. Since I am a plus size kinda girl I was like, "OMG how stupid can they be to sell the only thing they had for plus size". Oh well I guess they make enough money off all the little size 0 girls LOL.

To me, the words "Lane Bryant" still conjure up a picture of "granny undies" and unflattering clothing! Bleah!

Let's see if I can name all the pieces of the Wexner Empire: The Limited, Limited Too, Victoria's Secret.....gee, that's about it.
