The Nobamas were out in full force today.....

This morning, as I was making a run to the local dump to dump off recyclables, I passed several groups of people at key intersections on Far Hills Ave. (Route 48). All of them had signs saying "no to socialized medicine" or "no to big government" or similar signs, and encouraged people to honk as they drove by. I just shook my head at them and drove by them. They can make their peaceful protests, but no way can I agree with them.

Question #1: Where were these anti-big-government people last year? Both the Democrats and Republicans have been big-government advocates for years. And where's the Libertarian Party in all this? They've always been little-government.

Question #2: Where were the teabag people last year, when Bush was running up the deficit with his war on terror Saddam?

Question #3: Have any of these protesters ever been unemployed or been in a situation where they did not have health care?


Question #4: How do I feel about this health care debate? I'll answer that. Right now, I don't have any health care coverage. I work for a company that doesn't furnish their employees with health care until 6 months of service has been attained. Thankfully, I have reasonably good health, and can afford paying cash for my doctor visits. I take a few medications, and a couple of them are expensive, but I can either afford them or get samples from my doctor. While I was unemployed, or laid off, I didn't have health care coverage. Who would have to pay if I became severely ill? That's right -- me. I've heard stories of people going bankrupt because they couldn't afford the health care they received. Why should that happen here, in one of the wealthiest countries in the nation?

Bottom line is: Am I willing to give a few more dollars in taxes for the benefit of the common good? I say yes.

On 2, remember that Bush used Hollywood creative accounting, not charging the cost of the wars to the actual federal budget, but to what amounts to a special account. It was only this year, when Obama put the cost of the wars back into the budget, that it showed. Which, to the nutjobs, means Obama ran up that deficit.

I'm not saying any more right now; my blood pressure needs a rest. So back to Indiana Jones telling Marian to close her eyes, and watching Nazis faces melt.

Even when you have good healthcare you can get messed around. We fought a $14k bill for a year. As far as we can tell our insurance company used a technicality to refuse payment.

Right now we are trying to figure out why we owe $100 for a colonoscopy I had a few weeks ago. It's not a large amount and we can cover it, I just want to understand why I owe it.
