was one of hibernation. (Would have posted this earlier, but the LJ servers were incommunicado yesterday.) [Update: Turns out it posted after all. The post has since been replaced with a placeholder message.]

Saturday morning, I woke up early with Maria. I watched the Weather Channel from 7-8am, and then tuned in a local station. Instead of getting cartoons, I got an ongoing newscast about the weather. We had freezing rain that morning, and got to see a few people slip-slide into other cars. Joy. So I said, "I'm not going out today!". Then my wife woke up, and I took a nap. (Tag-team parenting at its finest.)

That afternoon, I finally took down the Christmas tree and all the assorted holiday decorations. We lost only two ornaments this year -- a glass penguin ornament, which one of the cats batted down, and a straw broom ornament. Mean while, my wife watched the TV Land marathon of "Carol Burnett and Friends".

That evening was the only time I went out all day. I picked up dinner at Carrabba's Italian Grill for my wife, dropped it off at home for her, and I went to Marion's Piazza to attend a going-away party for [livejournal.com profile] docvell, who's moving to Texas to be with his girlfriend.

On the way home, I heard a kick-ass song on the radio. I didn't know who did it -- it sounded like Kansas because of the violin and Hammond organ, but the lead singer sounded nothing like Steve Walsh. The words to the chorus were "It's your last chance / to believe in yourself". A few minutes of Googlesearching gave me the band name -- Shooting Star -- and their web site. They were originally from Kansas City, and became somewhat popular in the Midwest. The song was called "Last Chance". Now I need to get this CD to add to the collection.

Sunday morning was my time to sleep in. Then I got up while my wife took a nap. The afternoon project: vacuum the bedroom and clean the air filter. Vacuuming is the second-least favorite chore of mine; the least favorite is dusting. Even though we have a good vacuum -- a Rainbow Series D, which uses water instead of vacuum bags -- I still get a 'nose-mucus' every time I vacuum because of my allergies (suspected dust and/or mold).

And then I went shopping. I had to go to the local pharmacy to pick up some pills, and to drop off another prescription. I also stopped at the local pet store to get litter. They had a gorgeous green parrot for sale there. The asking price? $1500.

We had ravioli for dinner, and then watched "Office Space" on Comedy Central. It's a hilarous movie, if you can deal with all the cuss words (which were silently bleeped out on the broadcast version).
