....but some of you have, and have even created icons from the movie. Who's got 'em, besides [livejournal.com profile] filkerdave and [livejournal.com profile] readaxe?

[livejournal.com profile] mseuphrates covets them. Especially the one from this entry.

As for the movie, is available on DVD yet?

Happy Fourth, people! Please don't blow off your fingers when playing with fireworks. As they say, if you have four fingers and you take away one, what do you have? Blood! So leave it to the professionals, folks.

1776 has been on DVD. I'd check Amazon to see if it's available at the present time.

Here's the restored director's cut at Amazon (link goes through WFUV-FM, no additional cost to support an excellent radio station). I recommend this version, which has several scenes and an entire musical number ("Cool, Cool Considerate Men") that the theatrical release lacks.

Stay safe and cool (and considerate, but not like those men!) this holiday!

Opt for widescreen, not full screen

I have not yet watched my DVD copy of the Restored Director's Cut, but I bought it 'cuz it sez it's in widescreen.

I watched it in the theaters during its original run, so when it first came out on VHS, chopped for the aspect ratio now called "full screen," I was bitterly disappointed: in one favorite scene of mine with John and Abigail Adams at opposite ends of the screen, she was cut entirely out of the picture.
