George Birthington's Washday......
Feb. 16th, 2004 10:28 pmwas not a holiday for me.
After being "benched" for a week -- those of you on my LJ friends list know some of the details -- I am back on another task. I'm now doing MS Access development for a leading provider of transportation and fleet services. It's near downtown Cincinnati, so the commute time has not been shortened. But I can come in at around 9 am (barring any traffic snarls on I-75, of course), and dress business-casual. And it's initially for 2 weeks, with the option to go longer.
After having some blood drawn for testing (my doctor likes blood work), I headed back to my company's downtown Cincinnati office, braved the ascent in the elevator to the 20th floor, and met with my account manager, who briefed me on the client and their location. We drove separately to the client site, where we met with two of the people handling the project I'm working on. They have some benefit data for which they want to establish queries and reports, and they don't have an in-house Access expert. They want to get one of the reports done on or by Thursday.
So today was spent reviewing the database schema -- the tables, queries, and reports that have been produced so far -- and examining the raw data that would be produced weekly. Tomorrow I'll begin writing some queries, on which the reports will be based.
There's so much I'd love to do with this database, including making it completely turnkey, but that's for later.
