The Nickname Game......
Mar. 12th, 2004 10:58 pmMy main computer is slowly starting to recover. I was able to restore my application and data partitions, but the system partition didn't restore very well. I've spent the last couple of days reinstalling drivers, tweaking settings, and rebooting. Amazingly, the system seems to be working faster. I guess there was about four years' worth of detritus in the system slowing it down. Today I got the modem working again, and downloaded the last two week's worth of mail. The only thing not working is the network card. But since I don't have another machine on the network (other than the laptop), it's not critical or urgent that I fix it ASAP.
Even though the software is still there, the registry doesn't know it's there. So I'll end up reinstalling software as I need it if it won't run.
Now that the computer is back online, I can join the rest of the LJ lemmings and play "The Nickname Game". If you call me.....
