Fireflies and cornfields
Jul. 1st, 2002 11:17 pmCame home this evening from my weekly mens' group. While driving west on Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd. toward I-675, I noticed that there were lots of firelies hovering over the cornfields alonside the road. My estimation that the cornstalks are about 2-3 ft high right now. There were hundreds of fireflies out tonight! It wasn't as spectactular as the scene from ElfQuest -- you know the one; it's at the end of issue #10, with Cutter and Leetah seeing all the fireflies, and they....well, they did what elves do. ;-) But it was very pretty to watch. It was almost like watching an aerial shot of a stadium with lots of flashbulbs going off, like at the Orange Bowl. I wish I could have pulled over to the side of the road and watched for a few minutes. It was too dark to take any pictures, although a time-lapse shot would have been neat.
