Continuing the thread from yesterday's entry: some more funny slogans used by businesses.

When Pizza Hut was rolling out their new hand-tossed pizza crust in some Midwestern states, the slogan they used was "Making it by hand makes it good". (Can someone confirm that this is true?)

When Wendy's Hamburgers started adding bacon to their hamburgers in the late '70s or early '80s, they said, "Wendy's is makin' bacon!"

Needless to say, neither slogan lasted very long in the public eye.

In England -- or was it Australia? -- the makers of Electrolux vacuum cleaners had this to say in their TV spots in those countries: "Nothing sucks like an Electrolux". I'm sure they were referring to its suction power, and not its overall performance. :-)

Hee! Got to wonder how stuff like that manages to make it though the advertising department...get to the ads...get recorded...and no one points out the obvious! I'll bet there are a bunch of people smiling behind their hands and just waiting for the public response. Corporate joke.

Hmm. I was going to say "You have the wrong brand - it was 'Vax'", but it turns out that according to dictionary.com, in the '60's it was Electrolux, and then later, like in the '80's, it was Vax. Which lead to some pleasure on the part of DEC-20 fans, what with DEC's line of minicomputers...
